Cherry Blossom Forecast Japan 2025
Japan’s most popular season for visitors and locals is fast approaching.
The Japan Meteorological Corporation (JMC) released its first forecast on January 9, 2025, for this spring’s cherry blossom season in Japan. The forecast includes dates for when the blossoms will first bloom and when they will be fully in bloom.
Most of Japan will fully bloom in late March or early April and Northern Japan (Tohoku and Hokkaido) is forecasted as late April or early May.
This forecast and others are useful when planning your trip to Japan this Spring. While these forecasts aren’t exact, it’s good to know the range of dates. It’s also recommended that you visit various regions of Japan to increase your chances of seeing cherry blossoms in bloom.
These dates are very similar to last year’s forecast. The JMC has forecasts for 1,000 locations in the app Sakura Navi, which you can download for iOS or Android. This app can be downloaded for a fee.
